NAHB Green Building Program
The National Association of Home Builders Green Building Program is a voluntary green building program that serves as a blueprint for healthy, comfortable homes that reduce utility bills and protect the environment. Any size and type of home, including multi-family, can can qualify by following certain technical guidelines which are flexible enough to allow for a variety of approaches to environmental construction. Program development began in 2004 and lead to the creation of the National Green Building Standard™ which was approved by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) as an American National Standard on January 29, 2009

The certification process involves:
  • Completion of a Designer's Report using the NAHB Scoring Tool by the builder
  • Forwarding the Designer,s Report to an accredited verifier
  • Scheduling the rough inspection
  • Receiving the registration invoice from NAHB Research Center (NAHBRC)
  • Receiving the Program Participation Agreement from NAHBRC
  • Completing the PPA and returning it to the NAHBRC
  • Scheduling the final inspection
  • Receiving the Certified Home certificate if all is in order with the Verification Report and all fees have been paid

Our verification fees for single-family dwellings start at $600.00 and for multi-family can start as low as $75 per unit. Travel outside our service area may incur an additional fee. We require 50% of the fee at the completion of the Rough Inspection and the remainder upon completion of the Final Inspection. In the event that an item must be corrected before qualification where only a visual inspection is required and a subsequent visit to the site cannot be avoided, an additional fee of $150 will be charged. In the event of a failure of a Blower Door or Duct Blaster diagnostic test, or both, the home must be retested. The retest will incure a charge of $350 for homes with one HVAC system. Add $100 for each additional system.
